49ers number 23 full#
Johnson had a brief stint at wide receiver early in his career, during which he had 40 catches for 690 yards and four touchdowns before moving to defensive back full time. A member of the 1970s NFL All-Decade Team, Johnson was selected to five Pro Bowls and was named to four consecutive All-Pro teams (1969-1972). One of two defensive backs to have his number retired by the 49ers, Johnson was one of the great cornerbacks of his era. Others: Nick Feher (1951), Homer Hobbs (1950) Quillan started 129 of 143 games played for the 49ers.In our next installment of the best 49ers players by jersey number, we come across two retired numbers and two of the great players in franchise history. Quillan was the starting center in San Francisco for most of his career, which included two Super Bowl wins and two Pro Bowl appearances. In terms of talent and overall career it's Doleman, but in terms of what was done in a 49ers uniform, the nod goes to Quillan. Hazeltine was a five-time team captain and was selected to two Pro Bowls.

He totaled 16 fumble recoveries and 12 interceptions during his seasons with the 49ers and had three defensive touchdowns.

Hazeltine played most of his 15 seasons in San Francisco and started 113 of the 176 games he played with the 49ers. This is a close call between Hazeltine and Ahmad Brooks, and maybe you could go either way. His career lasted two more seasons past 1999 as he had stints with the Panthers and Broncos, but he didn't have the success there he had in San Francisco. He was a Pro Bowl player in 19 and was part of the team that topped the Chargers 49-26 in Super Bowl XXIX. Woodall started 88 of 94 games with the 49ers and totaled 356 tackles, 10 sacks, six interceptions, and four fumble recoveries. He heads into 2017 looking to bounce back from season-ending Achilles surgery. Bowman, who has 671 tackles and 12.5 career sacks, has been selected to three Pro Bowls and is a four-time first-team All-Pro. Bowman's book with the 49ers is still being written, but other than the major injuries he's suffered, it's been pretty darn good so far. Special mention goes to Hart, who over 10 seasons with the 49ers started 112 games, was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1976, and was a two-time winner of the team's prestigious Len Eshmont Award. Here's a look at players 53 through 56: Best 49er to wear No. It's a linebacker-oriented group in this portion of our list of top 49ers players by jersey number.
